This is me, Dr. Salcedo, receiving a red light treatment in the winter!

Winter weather can be harsh on the skin, causing dryness, flaking, and irritation. To rejuvenate your skin during the winter, consider the following tips:

Moisturize: Moisturizing is essential for keeping skin hydrated and healthy. Choose a moisturizer that is formulated for your skin type and apply it liberally, especially after showering or bathing. I prefer to recommend moisturizers without fragrances, colors or additives. We have many available from ZO (ZO skin products)

Exfoliate: Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells, which can build up and leave the skin looking dull. Gentle exfoliation can also help to boost circulation and improve the absorption of moisturizers. Our hydrafacial machine can provide excellent exfoliation, extraction of impurities such as blackheads, and infuse hyaluronic acid.

Use a humidifier: Heating systems can dry out the air in your home, which can exacerbate dry skin. A humidifier can help to add moisture back into the air, which can help to keep your skin hydrated.

Avoid hot showers and baths: Hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. Instead, take lukewarm showers and baths.

Sunscreen: Even in the winter, it's important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and apply it to all exposed skin. ZO has an excellent option for SPF, ask our staff about what we have to offer.

Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water can help to keep the skin hydrated from the inside out. Aim for at least 8-10 cups of water a day. My favorite water is Fiji!

Avoid harsh soaps and chemicals: Harsh soaps and chemicals can further dry out the skin and cause irritation. Opt for mild, fragrance-free soaps and avoid using products that contain alcohol.

Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats can help to nourish the skin from the inside out.

By following these tips, you can help to rejuvenate your skin and keep it looking healthy and radiant even during the winter months.
