About Preservé Breast Augmentation
Preservé breast augmentation is an advanced approach to breast augmentation that uses gentler, less invasive techniques.
Dr. Salcedo will use Motiva Smoothsilk Ergonomix® breast implants when performing Preservé. These implants contain a viscoelastic silicone gel. (1) They appear round when lying flat, yet anatomical and natural when standing up to adapt to the movements and positions of your body. They also replicate the look and feel of organic breast tissue, allowing you to achieve natural-looking and natural-feeling results that you may enjoy for years to come.
Benefits
There are several benefits that you may experience when undergoing Preservé, as opposed to traditional breast augmentation. They include:
- Less Invasive Techniques: Preservé uses an innovative approach to gently place your implants into your chest with less risk of affecting the underlying structures of your breasts.
- Maintained Shape: Because Dr. Salcedo does not make any incisions in the internal structures of your breasts, he can build upon their natural shape and volume, as well as preserve the natural function and sensation of your nipples.
- Natural Movements: The Motiva SmoothSilk Ergonomix® implants can replicate the movements of organic breast tissue.
- Faster Recovery: Most patients who undergo Preservé are able to return to light activities the same day as their procedure, or the day after.
Candidates
You may be a good candidate for Preservé if you already have somewhat shapely and even breasts, but wish to subtly refine the fullness of your upper breast pole. This procedure may also suit you if you are interested in placing your breast implants above your pectoralis muscle, rather than beneath it.
To qualify for treatment, you should be in good overall health without any underlying medical conditions that may affect your recovery. You should also be nonsmoking or willing to quit using nicotine. It is also important that you hold realistic expectations regarding your results. Dr. Salcedo will determine your candidacy during your consultation.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, Dr. Salcedo will meet with you individually to discuss Preservé, finalize your candidacy, and create your treatment plan. He will ask you a series of questions to learn more about your medical history, personal concerns, and aesthetic goals. He will also assess your natural anatomy and skin quality.
Dr. Salcedo will use these details to create a personalized solution for your goals. He will help you take specific measurements of your breasts and select the best pair of implants to help you achieve your ideal results. He may also suggest integrating another procedure into your treatment plan, depending on your desired results. Throughout your consultation, he will also take the time to answer any questions you may have, as he wants you to feel confident in the procedures you undergo.

Preparation
Once you have scheduled your Preservé breast augmentation, you will need to prepare. Dr. Salcedo will give you a set of instructions to help you. He may direct you to:
- Cease Certain Medications: Discontinue the use of any blood-thinning medications and supplements.
- Arrange Time Away: You will need to prepare to take some time away from certain activities to focus on your recovery.
- Prepare Transportation: Arrange a ride home with a trusted friend or family member, as you may not feel well enough to transport yourself home after your breast augmentation.
- Pick Up Your Prescriptions: We advise you to fill any prescriptions you may need for your recovery beforehand. This ensures that you have everything you may need ready for when Dr. Salcedo releases you home.
- Stop Smoking: Cease any nicotine use in the weeks leading up to your procedure, as it may cause certain complications to develop.
- Avoid Alcohol: You will need to refrain from consuming any alcohol in the days before and after your procedure.
Procedure
Upon your arrival, a member of The Plastics Doc team will lead you to a private treatment room where Dr. Salcedo and his surgical team will meet with you. They will reconfirm your desired corrections, and you will then receive either local or general anesthesia, depending on the overall complexity of your procedure.
Dr. Salcedo will place an incision along the inframammary fold, or the crease that sits just below the breast. He will use the Motiva® Channel Separator to gently create a tunnel within the breast to help access the underlying structures of your chest—all without damaging the structures of your breast. Once Dr. Salcedo reaches the area in which he will place your implants, he will create a pocket using the Motiva® Inflatable Balloon tool. This tool will push the internal structures of your breasts aside and create a perfectly-sized space that matches the size of your implants.
After creating your implant pocket, Dr. Salcedo will insert your breast implant into the space.
Recovery
While each patient’s recovery will vary, you can expect it to follow this general timeline:
Week One
Dr. Salcedo and his team will release you from their surgical suite on the same day as your procedure. Some swelling, bruising, or tenderness may develop around your breasts, but these effects are temporary and will gradually subside on their own. You may manage them using a cold compress, medications Dr. Salcedo prescribes, and plenty of rest.
You may return to light activities and desk work either that same day or the next day, depending on how you are feeling. However, you will need to refrain from engaging in any strenuous or physically demanding activities for the time being. Dr. Salcedo may also direct you to wear a supportive bra, which will help minimize swelling and support your breasts as they heal.
Weeks Two and Three
After resting for approximately two weeks, you may return to more vigorous activities. (2) You will notice a significant decrease in any bruising or tenderness, although some swelling may still persist. You should also continue to wear your compression bra as directed, as your tissues may still be healing internally despite their outward appearance.
You will see Dr. Salcedo for follow-up appointments throughout your recovery. This is to allow him to assess your recovery progress and ensure your results are developing properly.
Weeks Four Through Six
After several more weeks, you will be able to stop wearing your compression garment. The majority of your swelling will subside by this point, and you will be able to return to your complete routine.
Results
You will be able to notice an immediate improvement in the volume of your chest after your procedure, but the full results of your procedure will become more visible as you continue healing. You will be able to experience improvements in the fullness, volume, and proportionality of your breasts–each of which can contribute to a more desirable appearance and greater sense of self-esteem.
The results of Preservé are long-lasting, with effects that you can enjoy for over a decade. However, breast implants are not lifetime devices, and they will eventually require replacement. Dr. Salcedo recommends checking your implants regularly to monitor their health and well-being.
